kidisms

Of cake and idioms
I went to Costco with Aunt Kellie over the weekend and we each needed a cart between my case of diapers and her 80 lbs of kitty litter.  She had Dominic in her cart and Elliott stuck with me.  Dominic saw someone walking out of the store with a cake, and asked about getting some since it was "sample day" at Costco.  Kellie discussed it with him, then told him, "You take the cake, Dominic" to which he replied, "I did NOT take the cake!!"  She went on to explain that "you take the cake" is an idiom.  In case he was missing out of something good, Dominic asked, "Can I eat a idiom?"  And that's how Aunt Kellie came to teach an English lesson in a warehouse grocery store!

Cedar point
Kellie, Tammie, Joannie and Francis went to the Cedar Point roller coaster park this summer.  Dominic evidently internalized all their stories well...  Travis has some pieces of cedar boards in the garage for projects he's been working on, and Dominic likes to tell us, "See, Daddy didn't use all of the cedar point!  There's some cedar point left in the garage".  So 25 years from now when you ask him what his house is made of and he happens to say "cedar point", you'll know why!

Teeth brushing
Elliott really likes to observe his older brother and then copy his actions.  Dominic is a great teeth brusher, and we always let him brush on his own and then we get a turn.  Elliott started brushing better on his own after watching Dominic.  A few days ago, Elliott added a twist.  Now he brushes his teeth and vigorously wiggles his hips back and forth to get the job done properly!  Some day I'll get it on film...

of falls and floors
Dominic tripped and fell in the bathroom the other day.  When asked what he hit (knees? elbows?) he tearfully answered, "The floor!"
