poo and the 20 month old

Disclaimer: this may not be as exciting for you unless you have a kid...

A week ago Elliott came to me and patted his diaper and told me "pah-pah".  He usually does that in the morning when he wakes up to tell me he needs to be changed.  His diaper was "empty", so I asked him if he wanted to use the potty.  He told me "Ung" which means "Yes" in Elliott language.  We had a super fun game where he got to sit on the potty and get lots of attention while we sang songs and read stories.  Imagine his surprise (mine too) when he actually WENT!  Now he's asking about once a day and he's actually GOING!  He's getting the poop thing figured out, but still doesn't much understand the pee thing yet.  I just can't believe that he's training himself!  I don't mind changing diapers, but it is nice that we have about one less messy one a day.  Guess he just has to be "big" like his brother.  If he quits for a while, that's fine, but I'm going to encourage his new "game".  We'll see where it takes us!

Ha, that's awesome, Mr. Elliott! Potty training has been such a long road for us. Ginnie still struggles to stay dry at night at almost 5 years old - she is probably the only one of her friends who's still at this stage. But we're getting there, and at least we have an energy-efficient washer... :-)
